“Goat Hotpot” (Goat Hotpot)

Goat hot pot is a famous dish in Vietnam because of its nutritional value and delicious taste. The goat is burned over a fire until well cooked and has a pungent odor. Then, the meat and bones are separated, sauteed with various spices before cooking with herbs for half a day. Soft goat meat and bones create a sweet and rich broth typical of goat hotpot. Unlike other hot pot dishes, goat hot pot is cooked in an earthen pot with a charcoal stove. Little by little, different vegetables including fresh cabbage, water spinach, carrots, celery as well as tofu, “banh mi”, a type of vermicelli and taro are put into the boiling earthen pot.Photo: laudebinhduong.com

And when the dish is cooked soft, imbued with the sweetness of the stock, put the dish in and enjoy. Just pick up the hot slices of meat, dip it in a special dipping sauce called Chao, and then sip, if you don’t want to devour, the sweetness of the meat mixed with the spicy, sweet, fatty and salty taste of Chao. Instead of chao, Northerners often eat with soy sauce, which is equally delicious. In addition, the flavor of traditional Chinese medicine in the broth makes the hot pot more attractive.

Each restaurant has its own recipe for spices, herbs and sauces. Hope that you can enjoy all kinds.
